The latest edition of the award-winning Piano series is equipped with dual piano engines, dual sample synths, and twice the memory of the previous generation. With the combination of a premium Triple Sensor key bed and the exclusive Virtual Hammer Action Technology, the portable Nord Piano 5 delivers an exceptional playing experience.

 

Independent Piano and Sample Synths

The Sample Synth Section is based on an entirely new format and contains a wide range of entirely new sounds, such as solo wind, solo brass, solo strings, basses, and guitars plus a vast collection of classic analog leads and basses. Included is also a selection of samples from the Symphobia and Swing! libraries by ProjectSAM. All sounds can be quickly replaced using the Nord sound manager. You can also create your own sample instruments using the unique free Nord sample editor software for Mac and Windows.

The Sample Synth section provides two fully-featured and independent Layers and is equipped with intuitive controls for attack, decay/release, and dynamic velocity response. The new Soft and Bright Timbre settings provide a quick way of shaping the tone of the sound.

Innovative Nord technologies for the ultimate piano experience

The Piano 5’s meticulously engineered keybed gives you absolute control over your dynamics at any velocity level. Nord’s Virtual Hammer Action technology works in concert with precision physical hammer movements to provide a keyboard action that delivers stunningly realistic playability and dynamic response. The company’s Advanced String Resonance accurately reproduces the complex interplay of the piano strings and also adds the body resonance of a real acoustic piano when the damper pedal is depressed. The Nord Triple Pedal unit comprises Soft and Sostenuto Pedals, as well as the unique Dynamic, Sustain Pedal with Nord’s Pedal Noise feature, which dynamically emulates the mechanical sounds of lifting and releasing the damper mechanism of a real grand piano.

The Piano 5’s powerful Piano section features two powerful Piano Engines that can be used concurrently in a layer or split. This premium instrument is loaded for bear right out of the box. It ships with nine sublime Grand Pianos, nine colorful Uprights, and the character-packed chime, bark, and bite of 10 Electric Pianos; plus a Clavinet, Digital Pianos, a Marimba, Vibraphone, and more from the exclusive Nord Piano Library — where each patch is meticulously crafted for its unique character. Nord’s cutting-edge sampling technology captures the minute nuances and authentic vibe of the source instruments. Need additional pianos? They’re downloadable for free at nordkeyboards.com, which is regularly updated with new world-class sounds. All sounds are instantly replaceable via the Nord Sound Manager.

Unison, Tru-Vibrato, and more

The new sample format in the Piano 5 offers several exciting new features. Unison creatively blends several sample voices for rich, ensemble-like sounds, “Tru-Vibrato” accurately models the unique vibrato characteristics of a wide variety of wind, brass, and string instruments and round robin allows natural sounding fast repetitions. Vibrato is assignable to a button, pedal, or one of the preset delay settings. The Sample Synth section also features Mono and Legato modes with adjustable Glide rates.
